Portraits by Cooper

Cooper is a pretty solitary fellow when he’s out with his camera. He usually sticks to photographing the landscape, trees and plants. Every now and then we get a surprise cameo appearance from a human subject.

Last week Cooper was roaming the neighborhood with his camera and ran into a neighbor, Elaine Thompson, who is a professional photographer here in Seattle. No stranger to Cooper and his work, she shot a photo of him, and he shot a photo of her!  Elaine shoots all sorts of amazing photos and Cooper is pretty jelous of her work with the Seattle Seahawks – isn’t that a type a bird?

“Neighbor Visit” Here is Elaine saying hello to Cooper!

“Dorks” This is one of Cooper’s best known portraits of his humans, Deirdre & Michael.

“Baby Brother” Up close and personal with Cooper’s little sibling, Cameron.

“Garden Girl” Cooper commiserates with a gardener pulling weeds.

“Little Boy Orange” This cute child holds his hand out in friendship to Cooper.

Cooper is currently running around in the yard taking pictures. He wears his camera only once a week, which allows him to simply be a cat the rest of the time.

Cooper Shoots New Video of Baby Brother!

Cooper_withVideoCam_01People have been asking how Cooper is adjusting to being a big brother. The results are in: he loves hanging around baby Cameron (particularly if he isn’t crying). Cooper is always curious, and especially about the little noises coming from our newest family member.

This is the second video Cooper has shot with his Video Cat Cam. It begins about 12 hours before the baby was born; you’ll see a 42-week pregnant Deirdre at home in early labor! Then we jump to the following day when baby Cameron is receiving plenty of cuddle time with mom and dad.

I love the beautiful moments that Cooper recorded with his Video Cat Cam. He will be capturing many more of baby Cameron in the weeks and months to come.

Cooper is currently bird watching from the living room window. Oh – now he’s chewing on the fern – gotta go.

Cooper Takes Photos of Baby Brother!

Cross_Cameron_CooperCooper has been hoping that a kitten (or maybe a litter of them) would emerge from Deirdre’s belly.  But last Tuesday, December 1st 2009, she gave birth to a human baby boy!  His name is Cameron David Cross.

It has been a bit of adjustment for Cooper getting used to his brother.  After all, he has been an only child for over four years and used to getting all of our attention!  While our family continues to adapt, Cooper has decided to take some photos of his baby brother.

“Sweet Kisses” This is a beautiful angle.  Great shot, Coop!

Cooper is currently curled up in an otherwise empty baby papasan.  He is considering busting out his new video cat cam again tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Cooper!

Make a wish!Today is Cooper’s 4th Birthday! To celebrate, Cooper not only gets this fun new website revamp, but also a special meal which he very patiently waited for us to get a good photo of. What a good boy!
It’s been a tremendous year for Cooper – starting with Animal Planet shortly after his birthday last September all the way through to our brand new friends we’ve met on Facebook and the blog, we’ve been so impressed with the outpouring of love and support for him. I would say he’s been taking it all in stride. His photography work continues to surprise and amaze us and his disposition couldn’t be sunnier.

We asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he was strangely silent on the subject. So, he ended up getting some “shrimp brittle” from the natural pet food store and a hand made catnip carrot. Though I should mention that he discovered where we were hiding his presents on Monday and ran outside with the carrot before we could catch him.

Dig in little dude, you deserve it!

Eat up little dude, you deserve it!

The Comings and Goings of Cooper

Cooper has been out and about with his collar camera several times over the last few weeks. When the weather is about to turn colder, we try to give him lots of outdoor time. Enjoy it while it lasts, Cooper!

Cooper’s Expanding Subject Matter

Cooper has been a bit distracted lately – or more realistically we have been a bit distracted lately. Oh yes, Cooper’s still going out and shooting lots of pictures on sunny days. However, after he comes back with another set of 300 incredible shots we haven’t been doing much more than enjoying them ourselves. Internet, we’ve been so selfish.

Famous Little Furry Face

What a whirlwind the last week has been for Cooper and all of us in his support staff! We took him to the gallery three times for different press events, which got him plenty of cat treats, but I think it’s been as exhausting for him as it is for us.

Big week for Cooper

All this week, Michael and I will be preparing Cooper for his big gallery opening on Friday, February 13th. The show is happening at Urban Light Studios in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. The prints turned out incredible. They’re gorgeous 16 x 20 inch prints archival matted and framed. The opening night event runs from 6 to 9pm and the show is scheduled to be on display through February. A portion of the proceeds of the show will be donated to PAWS Cat City Rescue. If you come to the opening you’ll get to meet Michael and myself plus there might be cupcakes.

Cooper: Day in the Life Video

Many have asked us what Cooper does on a typical day, how he spends his time. Easier than explaining it, I thought I would show you.
